Hey Everyone!
Happy Thursday! I hope you’re all having a great week. As always, feel free to check out my video and/or keep reading for this week’s hot news!
So the physical copies of No Spell Lasts Forever #1 have all been shipped and I’m mostly finished with what I hope will be the last round of editing for the next comic, Scorned April. Which means this week has been unusually quiet for me as far as working on my projects! It feels weird, to be honest. But it’s just a temporary lull. Soon, I’ll be busy getting sharing No Spell on Substack and elsewhere, and moving forward with Scorned April.
And speaking of, I wanted to share my plans with you for that project. Once I’ve finalized the script, I’m going to start trying to connect with artists. When we have the first 5-10 pages done, I’m going to pitch it around to publishers and see how that goes. With No Spell, I went straight to Kickstarter, so I’m taking a somewhat different route this time, and I’ll definitely keep you updated!
If you didn’t get a chance to look at last week’s email, I shared the first five pages of Scorned April #1, if you want to check it out!
As far as comics I’m reading, I finally got caught up on the current Detective Comics run (by Ram V, Rafael Albuquerque, Simon Spurrier, and a number of other artists). There’s this scene (SPOILERS) where Harvey Dent is inside his own head, grappling with the fact that Two-Face is something he created to try to protect himself from his childhood trauma. And he tells Two-Face he hates him, but also admits he needs him. And there’s this panel where Harvey is hugging Two-Face that just blew me away. The whole scene is so powerful! Harvey is such a tragic character, and stories focused on him can really be pretty emotional.
I also started reading Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo’s Nightwing. I’m really enjoying it, which is no surprise because I love the character and I’ve heard nothing but good things about the series.
Well, that’s it for me this week! As always, you can find me on Instagram, @sarahcookewriter and @nospellcomic, and Twitter, @sarahcookewrite.
Have a great day!
Best,
Sarah
