Hey Everyone!
If you saw my last email, you know I’ve been looking into Substack as a potential home for my newsletters and comics-related content. Well, today is the day! My Substack, Killer Tater Tots, is live.
You can find it here.
There’s so much exciting stuff going on right now with indie comics on Substack. Creators are sharing updates about their work, and some are even publishing their comics directly to Substack.
So why is it called Killer Tater Tots? When I was in first grade, I wrote a story about a group of sentient tater tots rising up to take over our school. Surprisingly, my teacher enjoyed it so much that she sent a letter home to my parents telling them she knew I was going to be a writer one day and requesting a copy of my first book. When I think about that story, it reminds me of the reasons why I became interested in writing to begin with — the joy and satisfaction of it. In the years since, I’ve had to work through a lot of self-doubt to get to rediscover that early confidence and allow myself to write the kinds of stories I care about. And that’s what I want to talk about on my Substack. I want it to be a place where we can share about the ways in which our creativity affects — and is affected by — the emotional things we go through in our lives. And the meaningful impact of the stories we consume.
So I’ll be sharing my thoughts on those topics, as well as updates about my projects and ultimately, as my comics continue to move forward, I’d love to share preview pages and other content related to specific projects.
So there’s good stuff on the way! And I’m looking forward to continuing to connect with you all!
Best,
Sarah
