Hey There!
Happy Thursday! I hope you’re having a good week. It’s been a big week here, with the clock ticking down to the Kickstarter launch of No Spell Lasts Forever #1 on Tuesday, October 4! If you haven’t signed up to follow the campaign, you can do that here.
Speaking of people following the campaign…I’ve got a giveaway update! Plus the final version of Aimee Hawley’s cover! As always, scroll on down and/or watch my video for all the updates.
Ok, first things first. The Bookshop.org gift card giveaway was a huge success! ICYMI, in my email last week I said that if the campaign for No Spell Lasts Forever #1 could get 32 followers by today, I’d randomly select a Killer Tater Tots subscriber to win a $25 Bookshop.org digital gift card. Well, we smashed that goal in just a couple of days! So on Monday, I sent another email saying that if we reached 44 by today, I’d bump up the value of the card to $40. Well guess what? We knocked that out of the park, too! We’re now at 48 followers, which means I’ll be randomly choosing a winner later today, and I’ll let them know by email tomorrow.
I also wanted to let you know about the campaign’s awesome early bird specials for anyone who pledges in the first week. In addition to your regular rewards, you’ll get Diary of Night #1 by Will Allred, Gene Gonzales, and Rus Wooton, and issues #1-4 of But I’m a Cat Person by Erin Ptah. If you’re into urban fantasy, you’ll enjoy both of these comics! And the first five people to pledge at the $10 tier will get all the rewards of the $25 tier!
And another exciting thing! Kickstarter is launching what it’s calling its “Witchstarter” campaign, which promotes projects relating to magic and divination during the month of October. Of course, I wanted to jump on the opportunity, so I reached out to customer service. And yesterday, I got the good news that No Spell Lasts Forever #1 has been tagged as a “Witchstarter” project!
But wait, there’s more! Aimee Hawley has finished the artwork for the standard cover of issue #1, and it looks so good! I wanted to be sure to share it with all of you before making it public.
As far as comics I’m reading, I finished The Batman Who Laughs,by by Scott Snyder, Jock, and Eduardo Risso. Then I took a slight detour from Snyder’s Batman run to finish up that story with Batman/Superman by Joshua Williamson, David Marquez and Alejandro Sanchez, and followed it with Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen, by James Tynion IV, Scott Snyder, Brian Michael Bendis, Steve Epting, Javier Fernandez, Alex Maleev, and Francis Manapul.
At this point, you’re probably well aware of the fact that I’m a big Jim Gordon fan. And it’s been hard seeing Jim as one of the infected.
I’m definitely ready for him to be cured! But I’ve really been enjoying all the Batman Who Laughs stuff as it stretches over multiple books.
And I finally got around to reading Public Domain #4 by Chip Zdarsky. I really love this comic. It’s funny and clever, it’s a great family story, and it’s a lot of fun for anyone involved in the comics world.
Well, that’s it for me for now! As always, you can find me on Instagram, @sarahcookewriter and @nospellcomic, and Twitter, @sarahcookewrite.
Have a great day!
Best,
Sarah
