Hey There!
Happy Thursday! I hope you’re having a good week. As always, feel free to check out my video and/or keep on reading for all the latest!
It’s been pretty gray and gloomy here this week. But I’ve got a new poster to cheer me up! It’s hanging behind my desk in my fancy, new office space.
As far as No Spell Lasts Forever #1 news, Aimée’s final colors are looking so good! I feel like I say that every week, but it’s only because each week she’s sending me new pages that just knock my socks off every time!
Due to the busyness of the holidays, and the fact that Aimée had some excellent ideas about how to finesse some of the earlier pages, we’ve had to push her final deadline back — but just a little bit! We’re still on schedule to send out the physical copies of the book to backers in February, with digital copies going out the first week of the month.
She gave herself more work — and over the holidays, no less! — by deciding to tweak those earlier pages, but it really did a lot to make them look even more excellent. She added a lot more dynamism to page three, and she made the shading throughout a little more subtle while still giving the art plenty of that shadowy, noir mood and texture. She’s so talented! Like the subject line says, this comic will be stunning, and I can’t wait for you all to see it!
As far as comics I’m reading, I finished up the second volume of Monstress by Marjorie Lui and Sana Takeda and I’m continuing to absolutely love it! I also read The Secret to Superhuman Strength by Alison Bechdel. I think we’ve all come to expect excellence from her by now, and it doesn’t disappoint. It’s about her experiences with exercise and physical activity starting in her childhood and going through the present, but it’s not the typical kind of conversation we usually have about those things. It’s certainly not about diets, weight loss, etc. She talks a lot about the deeper emotional and spiritual meaning behind her relationship with movement and her body, and how that has all evolved as her life has changed. It’s really moving and I highly recommend it!
Well, that’s it for me this week! As always, you can find me on Instagram, @sarahcookewriter and @nospellcomic, and Twitter, @sarahcookewrite.
Have a great day!
Best,
