Hey There!
I want to start off by saying thank you to all of you for continuing to be interested in what I’m doing, it means so much. As always, feel free to read on and/or check out my video update.
Last week, I partnered with John Edingfield II, who made his comic, Rancidville: A Sour Beginning, available to my audience for free. It was really encouraging to see how many of you clicked through to get his comic (and if you missed the second email with the updated link, check your inbox!).
The fact that you’d trust my recommendation enough to take time out of your busy day to check out John’s comic genuinely impacted me. And your support is encouraging as I continue to try to grow my audience. It can be a lot of trial and error at times, but feeling like you’re rooting for me and excited about what I’m doing gives me the motivation to keep moving forward!
If you’d like to help me continue to grow, it would be awesome if you could share the link to sign up for Killer Tater Tots with comics fans, urban fantasy fans, or anyone you think might be interested. Or just post it on your social, that would be great, too.
Here’s that link: https://sarahlindseycooke.substack.com.
And here’s a short blurb you can use (or feel free to write your own):
If you’re a fan of indie comics, urban fantasy, or woman-led stories, check out Sarah Cooke’s Killer Tater Tots Substack!
And if you tag me or reply to this email and let me know you shared the link, I’ll be sure to shout you out on my social media, and I’ll be happy to link to any projects you’re working on.
But whether you know of anyone to share it with or not, I want to sincerely thank you for showing up to read these updates, watch these videos, and interact with me on social media. I so appreciate you!
As far as comics I’ve been reading, I’m all caught up now on Something is Killing the Children, by James Tynion IV, Werther Dell’Edera, and Miquel Muerto. I really enjoyed seeing more of Erica’s background, and learning that she’s been a tough, strong person with a soft, tender heart all along, even as a young kid. It made me like her even more.
And I read the first arc of its spinoff, House of Slaughter, by Tynion, Dell’Edera, Muerto, Tate Brombal, and Chris Shehan. It gives us more of Aaron’s story, who’s more of a supporting character in Something is Killing the Children. Here, we see his relationship with Jace play out, and I love it! I really enjoyed the drama of their divided loyalties, and how they work through that to find their way back to each other. Looking forward to the next arc!
I’d love to connect with you anytime on Instagram, @sarahcookewriter and @nospellcomic.
Best,
Sarah
