Hey Everyone,
Happy Thursday! I hope you’re all having a great week. As always, feel free to keep on scrolling and/or check out my video for this week’s updates.
Ok, so I want to start out with some very exciting news…the proof for No Spell Lasts Forever #1 arrived! OMG, it looks so good! Here’s a little glimpse at it:
It feels pretty amazing to hold the physical copy in my hand. Since it looks good, I approved it and put in a rush order with the printer, which means they’ll mail out the comics to me within 2-6 business days. Once they’re here, I’ll start getting them shipped out to backers. So if you’re a Kickstarter backer and the physical comic was in your reward tier, it should be headed your way soon!
I also wanted to give you a sneak peek at a deleted page from the comic. It’s from a scene between Bash and his daughter Beatriz. The scene was originally two pages but we had to cut it down to one for space. But Aimée’s art is gorgeous (as always!) and I thought it would be a shame if no one ever got to see this page. I also thought it would be fun for all of you to get to see what the scene might have looked like. This was the original page 13, and the page that’s in the comic now with Bash and Beatriz would have come right after, on page 14. I wish there’d been room for that panel of him tying her shoe on the following page. But we do get a closer shot of the same thing, so it all worked out in the end.
As far as comics I’ve been reading, I finally started The Nice House on the Lake, by James Tynion IV, Álvaro Martínez Bueno, and Jordie Bellaire, last night. I’m a big Tynion fan, so I’m not at all surprised that I’m enjoying it. I’m just one issue in ant it’s giving White Lotus/Glass Onion vibes, but it’s also very much its own thing. I’ll let you know my thoughts as I read more!
I also wanted to update you about my new job at our local library. It’s going well! In my experience, library people tend to be pretty nice folks, and that has definitely been the case this time. These first couple of weeks have been a little hectic because it’s a brand new branch that officially opens on Saturday, so there has been a lot of preparatory work and my schedule has been all over the place. But I’ll finally settle into my regular schedule next week. It’s just a beautiful library, and I think I’m going to enjoy working there.
Well, that’s it for me this week! As always, you can find me on Instagram, @sarahcookewriter and @nospellcomic, and Twitter, @sarahcookewrite.
Have a great day!
Best,
Sarah
