Hey There,
Happy Thursday! I hope you’re having a great week! As always, feel free to watch my video and/or keep on reading for the latest updates.
So the first thing I want to let you know is that I’ve changed my Twitter handle, @sarahcookewrite, and my @nospellcomic handle on Instagram to @sarahccomics. I wanted more consistency across my handle. And particularly for Instagram, I want a handle that’s more reflective of the broader comics content I’m sharing and engaging with, and no so tied to only No Spell Lasts Forever.
I’m also not going to be as active on my other Instagram handle, @sarahcookewriter. I think I need one centralized place on Instagram where people can find me, so I’m probably going to make @sarahcookewriter private at some point. So if you’re following me there, I’d love for you to follow @sarahccomics, as well. Thanks so much for continuing to engage with me on these channels. I know it jostles things when stuff like this changes, but in the longer term, I think the handle change will make it easier for people to find me, and more accurately reflect what I’m doing on social.
So this week I’ve mostly been working on a shot called The Last Bus. It’s for a horror anthology that will be published by Lesser Known Comics, and I’m really excited about it! The premise for it was actually inspired by a short story my mom wrote years ago. They’re completely different stories, but I owe the inspiration for it to her. And I’ve been working on the script for a sci-fi short, too. It’s based on the short I entered into the Mad Cave Talent Search, which I was happy with but of course couldn’t share because it uses characters I don’t have the rights to.
I’ve also been considering my options for Scorned April. I want to continue pitching it, and I’ve been giving some thought this week to my strategy for that. I’m still working some things out, and I’ll let you know as things move forward with it.
And the campaign for Moved by the Spirit: Hope and Light, the anthology that Alex Guenther and I have a short in, is still live on Kickstarter. I’d love for you to check it out! Our short is about grief and empathy — and it stars two adorable cats! I mean, look at these faces!
As far as comics I’m reading, I just checked out Ducks: Two Years in the Oil Sands by Kate Beaton and Gender Queer: A Memoir by Maia Kobabe from the library and I can’t wait to get started on them! I’ve heard all kinds of good things about both of them.
Well, that’s it from me for now. As always, you can find me on Twitter and Instagram @sarahccomics. Have a great day!
Best,
Sarah
