Hey There!
I want to start off this week by acknowledging what an uncertain time this is for so many of us. To be honest, I’m having a difficult time processing the events of Tuesday night. But the indie comics community has been very supportive, and it’s lovely to see how many of you have shown up to be there for one another.
To those of you who are creators, what you do has a special significance in times like these. I truly believe art can change hearts and minds, and it has a role in helping to create positive change. And continuing to make your voice heard when things feel dark and heavy is an act of courage (though if you need to take a break from your art to tend to your self-care, that’s also completely valid). So if you’re having a hard time processing everything, too, I’m sending you my support.
With that said, I’ll get to my updates. The exciting news this week is that the physical copies of Faster Than Light have arrived and they look gorgeous! I’m so proud of all of the talented creators whose work appears in this book. I’m in the process of shipping them out, so if you backed the book at a physical tier, keep an eye on your mailbox.
If you didn’t have a chance to back it, there will be opportunities in the future to buy the book through the Lesser Known Comics website, so stay tuned for updates about that.
I’ve also had a chance to do quite a bit of writing over the last couple of weeks. Before that, I’d been busy with Kickstarter and other admin stuff, and it has been feeling really good to have more time for writing recently.
As far as stuff I’m reading, I’m finally almost caught up with my pull list. Last night I started Spectregraph, by James Tynion IV and Christian Ward. The premise is so interesting — a rich occult dude secretly builds a supernatural machine in this creepy, old house and everyone is trying to figure out what it does. And, like all DSTLRY books, it just looks so pretty.
Well, that’s it for me this week. As always, you can find me on social, @sarahccomics. Sending you all good thoughts. Take care!
Best,
Sarah
