Happy Thursday! I hope you’re having a great week! Unfortunately, there’s loud construction still going on outside my window, so no video this week.
As the year comes to a close, I’ve been looking back at all the creative projects I’ve had the chance to work on this year and feeling very fortunate. Eze and I put out Issue #3 of No Spell Lasts Forever, which means we’re at the halfway point! I produced my first anthology with Faster Than Light Volume 1, I had the chance to write three shorts for Mad Cave projects, I wrote a short for the forthcoming anthology Concrete Arcanum Volume 2, which will have beautiful art by Carl Bourne, and I wrote the script for the third issue of my upcoming sci-fi, Mayfly.
I had a lot of fun working on all of these projects, and I deeply enjoyed getting to collaborate with some extremely talented creators. But it’s easy in the moment to get caught up in the busyness of the work — to go from one project straight into the next without taking the time to celebrate or reflect as I go. That’s something I want to work on for 2025. Next year, I want to give myself permission to pause and really savor my creative accomplishments.
In project news, things have continued to be a little quiet, which is predictable this time of year. And that’s actually probably a good thing. But I’ve been continuing to get caught up on admin stuff, and to polish up the pitch documents I’ve been working on.
As far as stuff I’m reading, I mentioned last week that I was reading Uzumaki by Junji Ito. I finished it and…wow! It’s really great. Super creepy and weird, but in a good way. There’s really nothing else quite like it out there.
Well, that’s it from me for now! As always, you can find me on social @sarahccomics — now including Bluesky — and I hope to connect with you there!
Best,
Sarah
