Hey Everyone!
Happy Thursday! I hope you’re all having a good week. As always, check out my video and/or keep on reading for all the latest.
So I’m still buzzing from sharing the digital version of No Spell Lasts Forever #1 with Kickstarter backers last week! If you’ve had a chance to read it, I hope you enjoyed it! Several days later, I still feel both excited and nervous. But it’s mostly a good nervousness!
Also, like the subject line says, the physical copies of the comic should be on their way relatively soon. I sent the files to the printer and proof is supposed to arrive by the end of the week. If everything looks good, I should be getting the comics in the mail in a couple of weeks, and I’ll start shipping to backers at that point. I’ll be sure to keep you updated as the process moves along.
And I’m working on a new draft of the next script I’m writing. As I work through it, I feel like certain aspects of my writing process, especially being able to slip into the minds of my characters, are becoming a little more organic, which I’m happy about. But of course, I think as creators we all always feel insecure about our work to some degree…what would creating be without a little bit of imposter syndrome, right ;) I try to tell myself that that feeling is to be expected, and not linger on it so much that it gets in the way of my actual writing (which isn’t always easy!).
One other piece of exciting news…I’m starting a new job next week! I’ll be working at our local library, and I’m looking forward to it. I’ve worked in a library before and I really enjoyed it, so I’m happy to be getting back to that kind of work.
As far as comics I’ve been reading, it’s more Monstress by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda)! I’m up to the seventh volume now. A lot of things are coming to a head as far as the relationships between characters, and there’s a lot of drama going on! And of course, Kippa continues to be perfect. Maika doesn’t always believe in her own goodness, but Kippa does and knows how to draw it out of her. I just really love their relationship.
Well, that’s it for me this week! As always, you can find me on Instagram, @sarahcookewriter and @nospellcomic, and Twitter, @sarahcookewrite.
Have a great day!
Best,
Sarah
