Hey There,
Happy Thursday! I hope you’re having a great week! This week ended up being a little busy so there’s no video, but I’ll be back on your screen next week!
Ok, so the big news this week is that I’m about to send out the digital rewards to backers of No Spell Lasts Forever #2! So if you backed the campaign, keep an eye on your inbox for a message from me via Kickstarter messages.
I’m planning to start sending them out tomorrow, so I should get all of them sent this weekend.
I’m also going to be placing my order with the printer probably on Monday. After I get the proofs back, the physical comics will be sent to me and I can mail them out to backers. Which means they should be shipping out in a few weeks.
In other news, I wrote the first draft of Issue #1 of Mayfly! I’ve been struggling a little lately because I know it’s best to pitch around and see if there’s any interest from a publisher before you start writing a series, in case the publisher has particular needs or requests. But I also just really felt like I needed to get back into writing. So much of what I’ve been doing recently has been crowdfunding, social media, pitching, etc. — everything but actual writing! And I needed that creative outlet. It was suggested to me that I outline a few different series and maybe write the first issue for each, that way I can have that creative vehicle without writing too much on any given series and then having to make changes later if one of them gets published. So I’m thinking that’s my plan for now.
I’ve also been pitching both Mayfly and Scorned April and if I get any traction on that front, you’ll be the first ones to know!
As far as comics I’m reading, I just finished up the first five issues of Blue Book, by James Tynion IV, Michael Avon Oeming, and Klaus Jansonon. The X-Files was a HUGE deal for me as a kid, and because it ran for nine seasons, it was one of those shows that really formed the backdrop of a whole area of my life. So now, anything having to do with alien conspiracies hits a really particular chord for me, and I’ve really been enjoying it. That’s part of why I love The Department of Truth, too.
Well, that’s it from me for now. As always, you can find me on Instagram, @sarahcookewriter and @nospellcomic, and X/Twitter, @sarahcookewrite.
Have a great day!
Best,
Sarah
