Hey Everyone!
Happy Thursday! I hope you’re all having a great week! As always, feel free to keep on reading and/or check out my video for all the latest!
So the big news this week is that I’ve launched the paid tier for Killer Tater Tots on Substack! Woohoo! So if you just can’t get enough of me, head on over to the Substack and upgrade your subscription!
As a paid subsbcriber, you’ll get the full digital version of No Spell Lasts Forever #1 sent straight to your inbox (as well as full issues of future comics). You’ll also get the inks for page 1 of No Spell Lasts Forever #2, and the script for the first scene of that issue, which is the first four pages.
So that’s all the good stuff you’ll get right off the bat just for subscribing. And in the future, you’ll get early access to new comics, bonus BTS videos, early access to new art, and invites to paid subscriber chats. I’d love for those chats to be a place where you can ask me about my projects and about indie comics creation, and to chat with each other about your experiences, your favorite comics, and other topics you’re interested in!
Paid subscribers will also get podcast episodes! More info on that coming soon. I’ve already recorded the first episode about A Tale of Three Halves, the Two-Face backup story in the current Detective Comics run, and what it says about having compassion for yourself. It’s a story that made me pretty emotional!
All that said, nothing will change with the free tier. Free subscribers will continue getting weekly emails from me as usual.
Ok, I think that’s all the paid tier news. In other No Spell Lasts Forever news, I’ve got a big announcement. Unfortunately, Aimée Hawley won’t be able to continue on as the lead artist for Issue #2. I don’t fault her at all — with her busy class and work schedule, I don’t know how she managed to pull off Issue #1 without collapsing from exhaustion! She’s still interested in being involved though, and might be doing a variant or some promotional images at some point. And the good news is, Eze Di Savino, who did the back cover and the art of Rosette for the interior cover of Issue #1, as well as some promotional art, has come on board as the new lead artist! He’s already been involved with the comic so he knows the characters, the story, and the tone. And he’s already been working on the pencils and inks, which look awesome! So if you upgrade to the paid tier, that first page of inks that you’ll get is his art.
As far as what I’ve been working on, I’ve mostly been editing Scorned April this week. And I’ve been finalizing a six-page story that I’m planning to submit to the Negative Space Short Comics Competition. If I’m a finalist, the short will appear in their next anthology. Fingers crossed!
And I just finished reading Issue #6 of Stargazer, by Anthony Cleveland, Antonio Fuso, and Stefano Simeone. It’s an alien abduction story, and also a touching and heart-wrenching story about the bond between a brother and sister, and how they process their shared trauma. If you haven’t read it, I recommend it!
Well, that’s it for me this week! As always, you can find me on Instagram, @sarahcookewriter and @nospellcomic, and Twitter, @sarahcookewrite.
Have a great day!
Best,
Sarah
