New art + Free comic coming soon!
Hey Everyone!
Happy Thursday! I hope you’re all having a great week! As always, feel free to watch my video and/or keep on reading for all the latest updates.
Ok, first of all, I want to share some new, gorgeous art with you! Take a look at Eze’s inks for page 3 of No Spell Lasts Forever #2! I love the expressiveness of their faces. I’m so excited for the colors! He’s also going to be starting on the cover fairly soon and I can’t wait!
And I wanted to let you know that I’ll be sharing a free digital comic with you next week! The last couple of months have been a little emotional for me in terms of writing. Editing Scorned April has required some soul-searching. It brought up some of my insecurities about my writing — and about myself (funny how they tend to go together!), so I’ve been thinking through a lot of that stuff over the last several weeks. And winning the Negative Space Women’s Writing Competition and placing as a finalist in the Pitch Competition was amazing and a huge honor — but also brought up a lot of feelings of imposter syndrome. And through this emotional roller coaster, you’ve all continued coming back week after week and checking out these emails, so I wanted to give you a little something to say thank you!
In project news this week, I’ve done a little editing of Scorned April and a lot of editing of the short I’m writing to submit to the Negative Space Short Comics Competition. I’ve really enjoyed writing this one. And I’ve got a couple other anthologies and competitions on my radar, so I’ll be working on another couple of shorts over the summer that I’ll be sure to tell you about!
As far as what I’ve been reading, I’m about two-thirds of the way through Dying Star by Dan Watters and Jon Davis-Hunt and I’m enjoying it a lot! It’s got a magical violin that can cut through space-time! And it’s part of Humanoids’ Incal Universe. If you haven’t checked it out, I recommend it!
Well, that’s it for me this week! As always, you can find me on Instagram, @sarahcookewriter and @nospellcomic, and Twitter, @sarahcookewrite.
Have a great day!
Best,
Sarah
