Hey There!
Happy Thursday! I hope you’re having a good week! As always, feel free to check out my video and/or keep on reading for all the latest!
This week I’ve mostly been working on stuff for Faster Than Light, the sci-fi anthology I’m editing with Lesser Known Comics. I’m so proud of this anthology! And genuinely honored that these talented creators have entrusted me with their work. The pre-launch page is live, and it would be super helpful if you could follow it. The campaign goes live in September and the more followers it has on launch, the more the Kickstarter algorithm prioritizes it.
I wanted to share the first page of artwork for the short Kieran Quinn, Lydia Monette, and I have in it, called The Chasm: A Mayfly Story. It’s set in the world of my upcoming sci-fi series, Mayfly, so if you back the campaign, you’ll get a glimpse into my next project. I mean, how gorgeous is this art??
Aside from Faster Than Light stuff, things have been moving forward with my Mad Cave project, and I can’t wait to share it with you! It’s had me thinking a lot about managing anxiety as a writer. Every time I’ve submitted anything for this project — a synopsis, edits to the synopsis, etc. — I’ve felt so anxious waiting to hear whether the editors liked what I’d done. So far, everything has gone well, but it’s showing me the importance of being able to sit with uncertainty when you’re trying to bring a creative project to life.
As far as stuff I’ve been reading, I finished Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir and absolutely loved it! And I read Memtic by James Tynion IV and Eryk Donovan and really enjoyed it, too. It’s weird in a good way, and maybe even more relevant than when it was written. I recommend it!
Well, that’s it from me for now. As always, you can find me on Twitter, Instagram, and Threads @sarahccomics. And I’d be so grateful if you’d consider following Faster Than Light!
Best,
Sarah
