Hey There!
Happy Thursday! I hope you’re all having a great week! I want to start off by sharing the gorgeous splash page from Chiaroscuro, the story I wrote for Faster Than Light Vol. 2.
This story will be included in the digital version of the book AND it’ll be a part of an exciting stretch goal.
In order to save on printing costs and maximize the amount of money we have to distribute among our amazing contributing creators, Chiaroscuro will only be included in the digital book, so the physical book will stay under 64 pages, the max for staple-bound printing. That’s UNLESS the campaign hits its final stretch goal, in which case we’ll print the book as a beautiful, perfect-bound trade! And if we hit that goal, Chiaroscuro will be included as a bonus story in the physical book, too. So if you’d like to see my story in print, consider pledging at some of those higher tiers :) Truly, it would make my little heart so happy to see this book published as a trade. These stories are all so lovely, and they deserve the perfect-bound treatment!
I love Jersain Cast’s art here, and Aimée Hawley’s colors are gorgeous!
The campaign is going to have a lot of exciting rewards, like enamel pins, stickers, vinyl decals, and a deluxe digital tier that includes digital copies of all four issues of my modern fantasy series No Spell Lasts Forever PLUS a never-before-seen horror short that I wrote called The Last Bus, with art by Dom Monette and letters by Lydia Monette. Honestly, I can’t wait for launch!
The pre-launch page for Faster Than Light Vol. 2 is live, and following it now is super helpful!
In other exciting news! I was recently invited to be a Negative Space mentor! It’s a huge honor, and genuinely a full-circle moment for me. Meeting with their mentors back when I won the Women's Writing Competition in 2023 was hugely helpful for me. I've stayed in touch with many of them and the advice they've given me, both in terms of writing and publication, over the last couple of years has been so valuable. If you’re a new creator, I highly recommend submitting your work to their competitions!
That’s all my project news this week! As far as stuff I’m reading, I’m about halfway through Dog Biscuits by Alex Graham. It was originally published as a web series during the pandemic, and it’s a really interesting snapshot of that bizarre and scary time in human history. It’s also a great story.
Well, that’s it from me for now! As always, you can find me on social @sarahccomics, and I hope to connect with you there! And again, if you have a minute to follow the pre-launch page for Faster Than Light Vol. 2, it would be much appreciated!
Best,
Sarah
