Hey There!
Happy Tuesday! Today is the big day…the launch of No Spell Lasts Forever #1 on Kickstarter! Woohoo! As always, feel free to check out my video and/or keep scrolling for all the deets (do people still say deets?).
I can’t believe it’s here! I’ve been planning for the launch of this campaign forever! If you’re interested in the comic and you want to pledge, it’s super helpful to do it in the first few days. Pledges make the Kickstarter algorithm happy, so getting a lot of pledges early on helps to drive traffic to the page and builds momentum for even more contributions. Contribute here.
And, if you pledge before the end of the day Friday, along with your regular rewards, you’ll get my early bird specials! Those are…
Diary of Night #1 by Will Allred, Gene Gonzales, and Rus Wooton. Catherine Morrison has spent the better part of 900 years walking the line between humans and vampires…protecting her people from the worst of humanity and humanity from the worst of her people. Now she finds herself in a deadly game of cat and mouse.
Issues #1-4 of But I’m a Cat Person by Erin Ptah. Ordinary broke millennials Bianca and Sparrow adopt a puppy…which turns out to be an immortal shapeshifting battle monster. (They call him Patrick.)
The first five people to pledge at the $10 tier will get all the perks of the $25 tier.
This one is a new addition! The first three people to pledge at the $50 tier will get a complimentary copy of the comic with Elena Ominetti’s beautiful variant (check it out on the campaign page!), signed by me.
Some of the other perks I’m excited about are virtual one-on-one sessions with me, a writer’s ashcan, an artist’s ashcan, digital wallpaper bundles, a virtual VIP meet-and-greet, a No Spell playlist, and more! And the campaign page includes a four-page preview of the comic!
I also want to take this opportunity to give a HUGE shout-out to Aimee Hawley. She has done an incredible job of bringing the story to life. Her cover is gorgeous! And her character designs, inks, and colors are all fantastic! The noir tone that she has established is just pitch-perfect. I’ve really enjoyed having the chance to work with her and I’m so grateful for all of her hard work.
If you want to hear me chat a little more about the comic, check out my recent appearances on Catch Da Craze with Sam Vera and Parallel Worlds with J.D. Oliva. I’ll be appearing on a few more podcasts soon and I’ll be sure to share those with you once the episodes are live.
On a personal note, it feels like a really big deal to be launching this campaign. Creating comics has been a dream of mine for a long time, but for too long I let self-doubt and a fear of failure stop me. So to be at the place where I’m making it a reality feels really meaningful. And I couldn’t have gotten here without the support of my community, so thank you! Everything you’ve done, from reading these emails to giving me incredibly valuable advice and words of encouragement has meant so much!
And lastly, just as a refresher, here’s my little blurb about the comic.
All her life, Rosette has been told that her magic is dangerous -- and that it makes her dangerous. So naturally, she's come to believe the worst about herself, and about the world around her. But all that begins to change when she zeroes in on a good soul to target, Sebastian "Bash" Vélez. Bash is a police chief doing his best to fight the corruption running rampant among his officers. Rosette cooks up a plan to spend some time with him in order to corrupt him and save herself. But she's surprised when he turns out to be the first person in a very long time who sees her as more than either a menace or a weapon. Rosette begins to question everything she thought she knew about herself, and about the kind of person she truly is. But what will that mean for her bargain with the devil, and the fate of her eternal soul?
Okay! I have a feeling it’s gonna be an exciting launch day! On days like this, I like to channel my inner Leslie Knope.
Well, that’s it for me for now! As always, you can find me on Instagram, @sarahcookewriter and @nospellcomic, and Twitter, @sarahcookewrite.
Have a great day!
Best,
Sarah
