Hey Everyone,
Happy Thursday! I hope you’re all having a great week! As always, feel free to check out my video and/or keep on reading for the latest updates.
Ok, so I want to start off with a little No Spell Lasts Forever #2 news. Eze is progressing with the inks, and he’s finished all three beautiful variants! I’m so excited to offer them in the upcoming Kickstarter! He has also created three gorgeous digital posters featuring Rosette, Elspeth, and Lucifer. They’ll be offered as rewards during the campaign. Last week, I shared the Rosette poster and this week I wanted to share the Lucifer one. Awesome, right!?
In other project news, I’m finished with the scripts for all three shorts I’ve been working on! One is for the Mad Cave Talent Search and doesn’t require art. The others will be submitted to anthologies and the artists I’m working with, Eduardo Garcia and Jersain Cast, are getting started as we speak. Also, Aimée Hawley will be doing the colors for one of them, and I’m really looking forward to working with her again!
I feel like all three of the shorts deal with things I’ve been thinking about and processing a lot lately, so they’re fairly personal stories in that way, and I’m honestly pretty proud of how they turned out :)
As far as comics I’m reading, I’m about halfway through Batman R.I.P. (by Grant Morrison and Tony S. Daniel) and I’m loving it! Of course, I love the way Morrison expands on the lore of all the old comics the story is based around, and the callbacks are great. But one thing that’s really pulling on my heartstrings is how hard Damian’s arrival is for Tim. This first plays out in Batman and Son, when Damian beats the crap out of Tim for literally no reason other than the fact that Bruce cares about him. But the physical wounds aren’t the only reason this is difficult for Tim — it also shakes his confidence in his relationship with Bruce. Tim is just such a sweet character with such a good heart, and it’s hard to see him question how much Bruce values him.
Well, that’s it for me this week! As always, you can find me on Instagram, @sarahcookewriter and @nospellcomic, and Twitter, @sarahcookewrite.

Best,
