Hey There,
Happy Wednesday! Since Thanksgiving is tomorrow in the U.S., I thought I’d go ahead and send the newsletter out a day early. As always, feel free to check out my video and/or keep on reading for the latest updates.
Ok, so the campaign for No Spell Lasts Forever #2 wrapped up on Saturday and the last few days have been a whirlwind! BackerKit has approved my survey questions, so I’ll be sending out the smoke test probably this morning. That means a small percentage of backers will receive the surveys first and if all goes well, I’ll send out the rest. And once I get the responses back, I’ll send out the digital rewards and place the order for the physical comics with the printer. So if you backed the project, keep an eye on your inbox, those surveys will be coming soon!
In addition to Kickstarter stuff, I’ve also been finishing up an outline for a project I’ve had rattling around in my head and just sent it off to an editor I’m working with. I think it’s so important to work with an editor at this stage, rather than wait until you’ve finished a first draft. The earlier you can fix any story issues, the better!
And as far as comics I’m reading, I finished up Gotham War a couple days ago. I think the most interesting part of it to me [SPOILERS] is at the end, when Bruce is talking to Dick about how he thinks he maybe shouldn’t have led the Bat-Fam to follow his path, and how he wants them to feel free to leave that life and find a different kind of happiness. After spending most of this arc insisting that his way is right and everyone should do what he says, not what Selina says, it’s interesting to see him kind of coming full circle and questioning whether the path he’s so dedicated to actually is right for the rest of the family. Dick seems to think it is, and doesn’t seem particularly inclined to leave crime-fighting behind. So we’ll see where this change in their dynamic leads them!
Thank you again to everyone who supported No Spell #2. It sincerely means so much to me!
And to everyone who celebrates, I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving! And I want to share the line from Year One that I think of literally every year after my family finishes Thanksgiving dinner:
Well, that’s it from me for now. As always, you can find me on Instagram, @sarahcookewriter and @nospellcomic, and X/Twitter, @sarahcookewrite.
