Cool stuff in the works!
Hey There!
Happy Thursday! I hope you’re having a great week! As always, feel free to check out my video and/or keep on reading for the latest updates.
Ok, so this week has been largely about pitches. I had a little email convo with the Negative Space folks and concluded that the original version of my Scorned April pitch would be better as an expanded outline — that’s the follow-up document editors ask for if they like the shorter, initial pitch document. I had some edits to make to it now that I’m pitching Scorned April as a graphic novel rather than a series, so I got those changes done and wrote a new, shorter document to use for the initial pitch.
I also finalized my pitch for Mayfly, the sci-fi series that I’ve got outlined, and created an expanded document for it, too. Of course, these will probably all have to be edited to fit different publishers’ specific requirements, but it feels good to have solid documents to start from now. I’m going to have an editor take a look at them and then…eeek!!…it’ll be just about time to start pitching!!
Also, the No Spell Lasts Forever pins and buttons that I ordered to take to a con in Dayton I’m hoping to table at next month arrived and they look amazing! These designs are all available in my merch store, BTW.
My plans for the con aren’t a hundred percent finalized yet but once I know more, I’ll be sure to give you all the details!
As far as comics I’m reading, I started Sentient by Jeff Lemire and Gabriel Walta and I love it! Seriously, how is everything Jeff Lemire writes so good?? If you haven’t read it, it’s about a group of kids who find themselves stranded in space after their parents are killed and who are then raised by an AI who has to become more than her programming in order to keep the children safe. I highly recommend it!
Well, that’s it for me this week! As always, you can find me on Instagram, @sarahcookewriter and @nospellcomic, and Twitter, @sarahcookewrite.
Have a great day!
Best,
Sarah
