Hey Everyone,
Happy Thursday! I hope you’re all having a great week! For some reason, I’m still having trouble this week with Substack video. I was hoping it was just a bug that would work itself out, but it looks like I need to do a little more investigation. Hopefully I’ll be back on your screens next week!
First off, just friendly a reminder that TODAY is the last day to fill out your backer surveys if you backed No Spell Lasts Forever #4. If you’re having any trouble accessing it, please let me know and I’ll send you the direct link.
Once the surveys are returned, I’ll send out the digital rewards and place the order for the physical books.
This week has mostly been about getting everything ready for Kickstarter fulfillment. And I’m looking ahead, starting to plan for the second volume of my sci-fi anthology Faster Than Light! It comes out this summer, so keep an eye out!
Also, I have a short called Betty and the Ogre coming out in the second volume of the modern fantasy Concrete Arcanum! The story’s art is by the talented Carl Bourne and the anthology is edited by the excellent Nathan Lueth. One of the first projects I did as a comics creator years ago was a four-page short for the first volume of Concrete Arcanum, so this feels like a little bit of a full-circle moment for me. It launches on Kickstarter on June 6 and you can follow the campaign here.
That’s pretty much it as far as project news this week. Things have surprisingly been a little quiet around here. The Columbus Cartoon Coalition is having a mini-con on Friday to celebrate their fourth anniversary. I won’t have a table at it but I think it’ll be fun to stop by. They’re a really great group of talented creators!
As far as stuff I’m reading, I just finished Pretty Deadly by Kelly Sue DeConnick and Emma Rios and I loved it! It’s one I’ve been meaning to read for a while. The writing is gorgeous, almost lyrical. And the art is beautiful. Highly recommend!
Well, that’s it from me for now! As always, you can find me on social @sarahccomics, and I hope to connect with you there!
Best,
Sarah
